Dromadinae

(蟹鸻亚科 Xiè-héng yà-kē カニチドリ亜科 Kani-chidori a-ka)

Along with the Glareolinae, the Dromadinae (crab-plovers) belong to the Glareolidae. Howard and Moore (2003) put them in their own family, the Dromadidae. The Crab-plover (Dromas ardeola) occurs as a vagrant in parts of Southeast Asia.

1. General names

Chinese: The crab-plovers are not found in China. They are known in Chinese as 蟹鸻 xiè-héng, 'crab plovers'.

Japanese: The crab-plovers are not found in Japan. The Japanese name of the crab-plover is カニチドリ kani-chidori 'crab plover', written 蟹千鳥.

Vietnamese: The crab-plovers are not found in Vietnam.
