The Tichodrominae (wallcreepers) belong to the Sittidae (Nuthatches and allies), along with the Sittinae (nuthatches).

1. General names

Chinese: Known as 旋壁雀 xuán-bì-què, meaning 'circle-wall-finch/sparrow'. Similar to the name of the treecreeper.

Japanese: Known as カベバシリ kabe-bashiri or 'wall-runner' (written 壁走), analagous to the name of the treecreeper. Not found in Japan.

Vietnamese: Not found in Vietnam.
