Crystallising Mongolian Grammar

Although there are some very good grammars and textbooks of Mongolian, they do not always provide good coverage of the modern colloquial. Grammars mostly deal with the written language and are skewed towards morphology. Textbooks understandably focus on the correct standard language. As a result, the gap between traditional approaches and the modern colloquial remains a wide one.

This quasi-blog is my attempt to piece together aspects of Mongolian grammar, especially of the spoken language, that are not satisfactorily covered in most existing sources. I wish to acknowledge my debt to the Grammar Forest blog by "naagiiruu" as an inspiration for starting this blog.

The first few posts originally appeared at Parsesnips: a study of grammar in prose.
